Ellen Muth, a 23-year-old dynamic actress and star of such screen fares as: "The Young Girl & The Monsoon," "The Truth About Jane," "Dead Like Me" and others, was born March 6th, 1981 in New Haven, Conneticut. She first appeared on the screen scene in Taylor Hackford's drama thriller Dolores Claiborne (1995), as Young Selena. For the role of Selena Ellen won a Japanese Academy award! Pretty stout beginning career credentials for a youngster of 13. Speaking of awards, Ellen also won the Best Newcomer Actress Performance Award, at the 1999 American Film Institute's Los Angeles International Film Festival for her portrayal of Constance in "The Young Girl And The Monsoon" (1999). She also worked with Rob Morrow and Marisa Tomei in the 1998 film Only Love (1998).

In 2000 Ellen starred in Lifetime's TV original movie production of The Truth About Jane (August 2000). The 'Jane' TV feature deals with the often misguided and sensitive topic of teen lesbianism. If you missed 'Jane,' do yourself a favor and try to catch the, thought-provoking, pic on the tube or eventually on Vhs/Dvd. Ellen, in the lead role of Jane, deservedly received rave reviews. She also has additional TV movies: "Cora Unashamed" (2000), "Superfire" (2002) & "Two Against Time" (2002) under her credits belt.

So how did Ellen get into acting? "I started with a coach--I worked with her for 4 years. I got an agent in NY and continued learning and experiencing new things," she says. When asked, If she had to choose anyone in the world to work with who would it be, Ellen replied, "Christopher Walken because his personality seems so down to earth and yet he seems so unusual in his own kind of way."

And the truth about 'Ellen?' She was probably born to play the lead role of Georgia 'George' Lass on her new Showtime TV series "Dead Like me!" Her father, Dr. Erich Muth, is an optician and she credits her mom, Rachel Muth, with helping make it possible for her to be an actress, by taking her to all her auditions until she was 18. She's a preferred feline Burmese cats collector who's not only currently on the fast-track to stardom but also races a for real six-speed SS.

Ellen's favorite actress is Angelina Jolie, her favorite movie is A Clockwork Orange and her favorite TV show is Sex In The City. Ellen listens to a lot of Mariah Carey music, and likes some rap and dance music.
